The first Belarusian mining shearer was presented at JSC Belaruskali.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko initiated a project on manufacturing the domestic shearer for potash ore mining. The cooperation between JSC Belaruskali and Mashkhimprom LLC allowed fulfilling the order of the President and presenting the new shearer last week in Soligorsk.
The domestically manufactured mining shearer Umka-550 is the first import-substituting machine. It has the same parameters as the shearer SL-300/550, which was previously assembled by JSC Belaruskali together with a German company, but the level of localisation has increased from 20 to 80 per cent. The analogue was created by the specialists of Mashkhimprom LLC in one and a half years. Soligorsk machine builders are ready to manufacture all subsequent shearers Umka-550 within 6-7 months.
Director General of JSC Belaruskali Ivan Golovaty:
“Tests in factory conditions showed that the first shearer manufactured by Mashkhimprom LLC is in no way inferior to foreign designs by its parameters. I am sure that the shearer Umka-550 will confirm its high technical parameters underground. In the next 2 months it will be assembled in the mine and put into operation. I would like to add that the manufacture of this shearer has practically completed the import substitution programme for the mine, and this means that Belarusian manufacturers have already mastered the entire range of equipment that enables to ensure ore extraction and its delivery to the surface for further processing, and with a quality that often exceeds import analogues”.
